I.N.S.T.E.P - INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAM

Trained national church planters, pastors, and workers are desperately needed. LBU partners with missionaries to start and equip Bible institutes around the world.


The purpose of INSTEP is to serve foreign missionaries by providing low cost, quality education for the training of nationals for church planting and world evangelism. LBU is able to accomplish this by providing curriculum, textbooks and other education needs with the primary goal of assisting the missionary in establishing Bible Institutes. Partnering with LBU most often gives increased credibility to the Bible institute in the eyes of their local government.


Students of partner institutes who finish their four-year degree program receive a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Baptist University. A degree from an American university will also add credibility and open doors of ministry to the trained national that would not normally be available to them.

Three Ways of doing missions

AMERICAN MISSIONARIES EDUCATED, TRAINED, SUPPORTED AND SENT

     - Average cost of four years of education and language school is $60-80,000

     - Average deputation time is two years with cost for salary and expenses far exceeding $100,000

     - Average transportation and moving expense to the field is $20-30,000

     *The American-sent missionary is the foundation of missions.


EDUCATING AND TRAINING NATIONALS IN AMERICA TO GO BACK TO THEIR OWN COUNTRY

     - Educational costs, deputation time, expenses and salary needs are about the same as American missionaries

     - Re-adapting to their own culture is much easier and the language is already known

     *The national trained in America is the fruit and progress of world missions.


EDUCATING AND TRAINING NATIONALS ON THE FIELD

     - Education and training costs are less than 10% of the real cost of the same education at a Bible college in America:

          - $0 – deputation time and cost

          - $0 – travel and moving expenses

          - $0 – Language School

          - Length of Stay – a lifetime of ministry

     *The national trained on the field is the final, most fruitful, and most cost-effective means of reaching the world with the gospel.

 

Training national pastors, preachers, and workers on the field is the way to reach the world. As many missionaries are leaving the field to due to age, health reasons etc., it becomes increasingly difficult to replace them and even more difficult to expand those mission program. The answer is to train more national pastors on the field.


LBU is uniquely poised to partner with missionaries to educate and train national pastors and workers on the field at a fraction of the cost of methods one and two.
