how to take a Class @ LBU

LBU offers a variety of formats to help you complete your degree. Our flexibility fits your busy schedule. The question is, how does it all work?  This page is designed to give you an overview of how students find structure and flexibility in the LBU coursework.

How it works

Louisiana Baptist University and Seminary offers five course formats. We offer On-Campus in-person courses, E-Campus live online courses, Synchronous Courses, Independent Study Courses, and Seminars.

On-Campus In-Person Courses

Traditional classroom courses attended by Shreveport area students. We offer these courses during the traditional fall, spring, and summer semesters.

E-Campus Live Online Courses

Courses taught either on our campus or remotely that are broadcast on our website. These courses require weekly online attendance at a set time. We offer these courses during the traditional fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Synchronous Courses

Courses that begin on a set date and end on a set date. Students watch recordings and complete coursework at their convenience, so long as each module is completed on time. We offer these courses during the traditional fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Independent Study Courses

Courses are made available online to be completed at the student’s convenience. Academic advisors guide each student through the course. These courses can begin and end at anytime.

Seminars

Traditional classroom courses conducted in one week on our Shreveport campus. Students complete assignments before the seminar and after the seminar. The one-week format allows students anywhere in the world to join us for traditional on-campus education. We offer these courses during the traditional fall, spring, and summer semesters.
